How to extract the creative essence of an artist?

Here, painting and music have been the process in which I unveil myself and find the truth. The strongest idea embraced by a feeling is the one leading the process, then I realized what got me there  —where I seem to understand what is happening within. I would not know it certainly at the beginning, but until it takes shape or makes more sense.

Although abstract art is not meant to be explained —and is far from being scientific— there is always a story behind it that could be told, a feeling beneath the skin that needs to be mirrored. My form of Art is the expression of my soul as resourceful or limited as it might seem. As an opening statement: a fancy camera does not make someone a good photographer,  if those eyes are not open enough to recognize poetry.

For me, the act of keeping the feeling in the chest is the driving force to create. The sensation is the lungs brimming with air, the same that keeps me going for unplanned and heartful songs or paintings. And it gets me there, to the place and space of being in touch with the self, unarmed, dreamy, safe, aware of my fears and joys, the sour and sweet.

The title I came up with is not a question that needs immediate answer—by me or anyone else. Most of the questions I ask aren’t meant to be solved on the spot. Instead, I let my mind respond by simply living—painting, singing, playing chords, taking photos, decorating—and all the unintentional, instinctive ways I do everything that are intrinsic to who I am. I understand that Art is meant to be shown during the whole journey, even from a practical viewpoint, no matter how shy or scared I might feel.
